    Cross-Country Trails
    Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge (Map 5, 7I) has groomed trails over gentle terrain by Lac Beauvert and offers ski and snowshoe rentals at the main lodge, 852-3301. Accessible from the Icefields Parkway (Map 1, 4M), Meeting of the Waters to Athabasca Falls is a level 10-km (6 mi) trail with views of the Fryatt Range. Three other groomed trails are at either end of the route. Whistlers Campground Trail (Map 5, 10E) is an easy 4.5 km (2.8 mi) partially lit for night skiing. Maligne Lake 48 km (30 mi) SE of Jasper townsite (Map 1, 4M) has 20 km (12 mi) of groomed trails for beginners/intermediates plus telemark and touring above-treeline on the Bald Hills. Intermediate skiers seeking a short ski and good snow conditions enjoy Beaver Lake/Summit Trail, accessible at 'Km 27' (16 mi) along Maligne Lake Rd. Pyramid Bench (Map 5, 4G), 5 min from Jasper townsite are groomed trails from 1-30 km (.5-19 mi). Routes near Patricia and Pyramid lakes are popular. X-c ski rentals, hot drinks and food at Pyramid Lk Resort (closed winter 2005/6 for renovations). The above areas are popular for snowshoeing too, but don't snowshoe atop x-c ski trails. Jasper Information Centre (500 Connaught Dr, 852-6177, Map 5, 15N) provides trail maps, snow reports and route suggestions. Nov-Mar 9 am-4 pm (to 5 pm Apr-mid Jun); closed for lunch, X-mas, Boxing & New Year's Day. Call 852-6176 for avalanche and weather information.
