Named for tourism pioneer Papa George Andrew, this casual spot with fireplace has been a Jasper tradition since 1925. This year, a new pastry and cappuccino cafe (eat-in or take-out) debuts alongside an elegant wine bar with 1300 bottle open-to-view cellar and small plates ($3-$8). In the restaurant, chef Jason Munn features AAA Alberta ribeye steak with sweet onion and blue cheese demi-glaze, buffalo ribs with maple whisky jus, wild coho salmon and crispy duck with port and fig sauce. Lunch: sandwiches on homemade bread, haddock and chips and flat iron steak. Mains $18-$32, lunch $7-$13, breakfast $6-$16.

Walter's Dining Room boasts a large central fireplace in an atrium of greenery. Award winning menu (entrees $17-$32) offers Native inspired delicacies. Menu samples—westcoast mussels, Canadian antipasto (salmon, salami, oka, cheese and cranberry jam), blueberry glazed free run chicken, bison, cedar plank trout and AAA Alberta prime rib with Yorshire pudding. Impressive Saturday Night Skiers Buffet (winter), featuring carved Alberta beef roast, pastas, salads and entrees, is a Jasper tradition ($23, $12 6-12). Extensive breakfast buffet is a good value ($13.50, $7 6-12). Hearthstove Lounge serves casual fare.

Evil Dave's Grill
Accomplished chef David George Husereau (of Tekarra Restaurant fame) designed the funky menu. Asian-inspired starters include coconut fried lollipop shrimp, Vietnamese spring rolls and Chinese lettuce wraps. Evil entrees consist of Sinful steak, Malicious salmon and Wrathful shrimp. Creative pastas include the Bad Guy (rhymes with Pad Thai) and the Convicted Felon. Devilishly delicious desserts. Funky, upbeat atmosphere. Mains $14-$32. 11:30 am-10 pm.
