Hotels in Jasper

• A WorldWeb.com Travel Guide for Jasper, Alberta.
Pitching a tent, roasting marshmallows over the fire and falling asleep snuggled in a sleeping bag may be one way to get in touch with nature, but for those who aren't keen campers there are alternatives. By day, visitors to Jasper can explore the national park's impressive mountains, lakes and waterfalls, and by night unwind in comfortable hotel rooms with such amenities as fitness centres and spas. Whether seeking an elaborate suite with a Jacuzzi or modest room with a mini fridge, Jasper's hotels present a multitude of options.

LUXURY LIVING

If a luxurious mountain getaway is the plan, Jasper National Park offers a selection of high-end hotels with top-notch facilities. However, the park's most famous hotel with a high price tag is the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, which overlooks the serene Lac Beauvert. Located just outside the townsite, Jasper's Fairmont exudes an old-fashioned mountain charm with its collection of cedar chalets and log cabins. Jacuzzi tubs, fireplaces, a heated outdoor swimming pool and an 18-hole golf course are a few of the resort's drawcards. However, guests searching for the divine aren't limited to the Fairmont. A variety of elegant hotels are also located in the townsite with such features as beautifully furnished rooms, large bathrooms with soaker tubs, and fabulous on-site dining.

MID-RANGE

Visitors hoping for something a little less expensive will appreciate Jasper's selection of mid-range hotels. These hotels often include such amenities as pools and hot tubs and rooms with handy features like Internet, mini fridges and hair dryers. Suites range from standard rooms with one or two beds to spacious units with kitchens and separate bedrooms.

Jasper offers both brand-name and independent mid-range hotels with a selection of floor plans. A few popular hotels in this category include the Best Western Jasper Inn and Suites with standard and executive suites, the Whistlers Inn with such bonuses as an outdoor rooftop hot tub, and the Maligne Lodge with pet-friendly rooms and a designated outdoor pet area.

BUDGET-FRIENDLY

Since Jasper National Park is a major tourist destination, the bulk of hotels in the town lean towards the mid-range price tag. However, there are ways to score a comfortable room in the Jasper area at a budget-friendly rate. Summer is the peak season in Jasper, which means hotel rates spike significantly. During the winter off-season and shoulder seasons many hotels in Jasper, such as the Athabasca Hotel, offer discounted rates. Another option is the town of Hinton, which is located just outside of the park. Hinton offers an array of hotels to choose from and because it is not situated inside the park the rates are generally lower.
